The average person using a personal computer may need help to install, maintain or repair their equipment. Help PC users are working on the computer service technician.

computer service technicians may choose to attend one of the many areas of manufacturing. This could include work on digital machine, process control system or another computer - controlled applications.

Students who choose this option takes two quarters of specialized classes in computers and networks (LANs). When they graduate, they have the background to install, maintain and sell computers. Alternatively, they may be involved in the test equipment and automated test systems.

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

You must also be detail oriented to like working with your hands, and have excellent problem solving skills. Endurance and patience are important features of the service.

Since computer equipment technicians is expected to repair the equipment used by others, they must also be able to communicate and work with them. People skills are essential. You must be skilled at listening to others as they explain the problems with the equipment. You'll also be able to communicate clearly and tactfully, when you teach people or operator error correct.
